GTX 480 Normal temps?

So my 480 is running about 88-90 On full load in BF3. Is that about right? its a bit higher then my buddys 580 which runs about 85 on load. i dont see any issues but just want to make sure.

A friend of mine has a newer gen GTX 480 and those are roughly the temperatures he sees with the auto fan profile. You have an eVGA card so I honestly wouldn't worry assuming you have the lifetime warranty.

Don't worry about temps yet, but 97+ is starting to get closer to the danger zone.

If you don't already have a custom fan profile, I suggest you make one to take it down a few C.

Also improving case air flow through fans and/or cable management can go a long way to help manage heat.

I run my fan @ 50% idle, 65% full load. Temps stay under 80c at 850mhz so a simple 5% raise in fan speed should take that temp down a bit.

Thats exactly what I get on mine. the GF100 chip is rated to 105c so its fine.

Just to clarify this is on auto fan profile. Fan spins up to about 65% max during full load.

Yeah, that's how hot mine runs. You could try replacing the thermal paste. That helps some people out, but not all.

Sounds a bit high to me, but it depends upon ambient temp, case airflow, fan profile, card overclock settings, etc etc. and really, if it's not artifact ing in anything then you're gtg regardless of temps.

You have a different card than mine then. My eVGA 480 GTX would jack itself up to 100% for a short bursts on 'auto'. I freaked out the first time it happened. The temps never exceeded 85c while doing it either.

The EVGA cards I received last week also go up to ~65% fan under full game load. Temps hover around 90c. All in all, the auto fan profile on these final 480's seems pretty reasonable. Haven't seen a lot of reason to setup a custom fan profile. Maybe it will be needed later in the summer when ambient temps are higher.
