So it has 8.25 functional CUDA cores? Makes sense.

The GPU-Z screenshot is at least partially wrong. Whatever is on the left shows the expected 352 cores, and 264 is an impossible number.

Hey, you never know, they were gonna disable CUDA after all :p.

Really, the internet never gets any smarter does it.

264 shaders at 608 mhz? haha and this is supposed to compete with 5850? This card looks like a competitor to 5830.

Several sites are saying it's supposed to launch at $249-259. Performance wise, it needs to be between the 5830 and 5850, but who knows what it'll be. It's almost shame GF104 is rumored to be topping out at 256 shaders, as it'll likely be able to clock higher than GF100 and therefore have better performance (for games) per shader than GF100.

Hopefully the fall refresh will cut some of the gpgpu fat off the consumer GF100 part so the dies are smaller, draw less power per mhz, can be clocked higher, and use all 512 cores. Here's hoping.

It doesn't have 264 shaders, it has 352.

Maybe GPU-Z is incorrectly reading the card? From the pictures linked, it's 32 ROPs, 264 shaders and 256-bit memory interface.

I just did a quick search online for the specs and you are right that it will have 352 shaders: http://www.overclockersclub.com/news/26658/

Still, with memory bandwidth at 102 GB/sec, and only 352 shaders, it will likely slot between 5830 and 5850. Rumors point to a $249 MSRP.

a lot of the stuff GPUz tells you is based on looking up the hardware ID on a chart... so it is often wrong on new hardware and constantly needs updating. Same for CPUz...
unusual hardware too, I just tried CPUz on a pentium 4 with 2x128MB of RDRAM and it told me it is 2x512MB of DDR.

Anyways, a die harvested version with just a few more disabled cores makes sense... also lends credence to the claim of low yields.

264 isn't divisible into a sensible number.
256 would make sense, but when a CUDA cluster is 32 cores, 264 is impossible unless NV turn off only part of a CUDA cluster.

Why didn't they make it a 384 core part I wonder. That would have been a better competitor for the 5850.

They don't want it to compete with the 5850, that's what the 470 is for. They want the 465 to compete with the 5830, and the 460 to compete with the 5770. And by "compete" I mean exceed the performance by roughly 5% on average. That allows for charging a price premium relative to the ATI parts while the performance doesn't threaten pricing of the higher margin models.

If people could get 80% the performance of a GTX480 for 1/2 the price NV and ATI both would sell nothing BUT that part. It'd be the ti4200 and 8800GT all over again.

However, it will be interesting if these cards can be software unlocked. That would make them sought after by tweakers. They'd have to unlock well enough for people to "risk it", but not be a sure enough bet that people stop buying 470s.
