This card is a bit confusing, a cut down gpu with more ram than 460/768mb. It seems to do better than 768 at extreme resolutions, but at those resolutions, it's so slow neither card can play the game anymore. But mostly it's slower than 768. I think they should just pair like 512mb with this cut down core for low resolution gaming and sell it like $99.

512mb would be silly because nearly every modern game will exceed that at 1680 on settings that would otherwise be playable for a gtx460.

Cool, hopefully these will fall into the $120ish range pretty soon. The GTS450 just sorta isn't impressive.

The reviews say the exact opposite of each other. HardwareC says its identical in performance to the 768mb, yet techpowerup says the performance was much lower.

What the heck? Anand needs to get a hold of this like now.

Why don't you look at the graphs and form your own opinion?

It's a pointless card other than for OEM builders who want to tout "1GB RAM!" and save a few bucks. It's slower than the 768MB version, but most BB shoppers won't know the difference. The'll just be comparing the amount of RAM and think it's better.

"Sucker Edition" is true, once again.

Depending on how low the price goes, and whether or not they come in a single-slot version, they might be a better choice than a GTS450. I dunno, I'm using my GTX460s for F@H primarily, not gaming. I still picked up the 1GB versions, not the 768MB version, for some reason.

It all comes down to pricing. It looks like the 650mhz cards can do 850mhz, and that would give decent performance.
Imo, this is how Nvidia uses every gpu from the wafer, and can price them the way they do.
Today you can get a evga 1gb non SE for 169.00, how low will these go ? :)
The performance increases we saw across the board were also jaw-dropping:
