I bought a GTX 560 Ti with some extra money I had, then I realized it was overkill for the system. Here are the specs:

Raidmax 630z
Gigabye GA-Z68XUDH3-B3
Intel i5 2500k @4.6
Patriot Sector 5 RAM 1600 8GB (7-7-7-18)
Seagate 1TB Internal
17" Gateway Monitor

And that's pretty much it, guys. I can get an awesome deal on a GTX 460 after returning the GTX 560 Ti (which was $300 at the time). Should a GTX 460 be fine or do I need more power? Remember, 1280x1024 is my max res, at 75Hz.

A 460 is overkill but there's no sense getting anything less powerful given it's still one of the best bang for the buck GPUs.

That's what I was sorta hoping to hear. I felt like a 450 GTS would probably be even overkill. The GTX 460 is $85, so I think I'll go it with that.

Just make sure its a 1gb model and not a SE model.

A gts450 would struggle with some games, you made the right choice.

gtx 460 se sucks compared to the 1gb model. It's only about 5% faster than a 5770/6770. The way the market has been, $85 isn't a terrible price for it, just know that it's not the card that you see in all the reviews getting uber fps.

Thanks for letting me know about that SE model, I saw it and wondering what the deal was and skipped it. The lowest non_SE model was $139.99 after a $15 rebate. Is that a good deal, for a GTX 460?

imo unless you this is a really nice 17" CRT with high resolution (i'd still ask WHY)

or

unless you do insanely complex math simulations

why do you have such a powerful pc paired with such an old crappy monitor?

The monitor is your ONLY visual gateway to your pc...

Well, I just never upgraded monitor after this and just got kind of used to this one. A monitor is definitely next on the list (besides the heatsink/cooler).

Hell i'm stuck using a 18'' CRT dell that does 1600x1200 cause my 21.5inch 1920x1080 got damaged in a move.

Way to small sitting 3 feet away so now i end up gaming on the 37 inch insignia and more then likely i can't game on a monitor at a desk unless its 27''.

Almost hate the t.v cause it has spoiled me but i def can't replace this monitor with anything less then 27'' now and i used to vow 24'' was enough.
