my friend is selling his Galaxy GTX 460 1gb for $70
currently i have a BFG 8800gt OC in Acer Aspire E700-UQ660A with upgraded psu that has
a pci-e 1.0 slot, is it worth the upgrade? or is the bottleneck too great for pci-e 1.0 motherboard? thanks!

i also have a dell xps 400 q6600 to put this in but i think that's also pcie 1.0 also..
(dell psu 12VA+ 12VB total output = 30A, gtx needs 24A )

thanks!

edit: looks like a minor performance hit

I think you will clearly see a performance gain. It's just that you won't have as much as you would with a pci-e 2.0 mb. Nice video card for a very good price I noticed a gig jump from the 8800GT to the GTX 460

as long as it's a 16x pcie 1 slot(which it should be) I think you'll be fine. It's about the same throughput as an 8x PCIE 2 slot.

if the cpu is not a limitation then a stock gtx460 would be right around twice as fast as a stock 8800gt. the gtx460 should oc pretty good so there is even more potential. it really depnds on the game and your resolution to determine exactly what you will get while using your stock Q6600.
