Will the 256 bit/1GB model have more than 336 CUDA cores? Isn't GF104 a 384 CUDA core product natively?

they used gtx285 pics. lol

no they didn't.
pic 2: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ImageG...20Video%20Card
top connector is different
pic 5: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ImageG...20Video%20Card
Back grill is different, and it has 3 connectors (GTX285 had only 2)

compare the pictures to this GTX285: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125280&cm_re=gtx_285-_-14-125-280-_-Product

However, the specification page says it only has 2x 6pin power connectors, while the picture clearly shows 3. so either the spec or the picture is wrong.

That isnt the GTX460. Its the EVGA GTX285 Classified which indeed does have 3 PCI-e 6pin connectors. Probably a mistake on Neweggs part.

Cards are now popping up in search.

$220 for the Palit 1GB model... can't wait for the reviews.

$220 for the 1GB models sounds nice. This could be the mid-priced card we've been waiting on for over a year now. It'll be interesting to see how it performs compared to the 5850 and 465.

If the high end card performs as well as I think it will for around $250, nV might have trouble moving the rest of the 465 and 470 stock.

Did I f@ck up just buying a evga gtx 470? How's power consumption and performance?

If the Palit 256-bit 800mhz card performs like what the leaked benchmarks showed a few weeks ago, then I think it'll have hd5850. You'll still have a faster card, which you could probably overclock some on your own, but you'll have paid a $100 premium for 10% more performance. :/ Either way, you still have a fast card.

I'm thinking we're going to see hd5850 performance - or even better - with that $250 Palit gtx 460. Of course we have to wait for reviews, but yeah Nvidia is going to have to just drop prices and accept either breaking even or losing a little bit of money to get rid of that inventory ASAP and well before GF100's next iteration.

Yes you did. The TDP for the 768MB 460 is 150W, 160W for the 1GB 460.

The fan on this is very large, the card is much shorter, it's a new revision of the chip, and the heatsink looks pretty damn beefy. It should run very cool.

I ordered the Gigabyte GTX 460 1GB. As long as it has voltage control I'm not worried about passing the Palit model.

I don't care for Palit's 1 year warranty or the heatsink designs they use. Interesting note on the Palit model, it's length is listed at 7.4" vs 8.25" reference, and it has listed two DVI ports, a VGA port, and a HDMI 1.4 port. I'm interested to see what it looks like. I wanted to wait for an Asus, MSI, or EVGA 1GB model, but I didn't want to risk a price hike. $230 + s/h for a 715Mhz core 1GB model sounds good to me :D

I'll be posting a review of the card online vs the 5770 and 5850 later this week :)

Note: One of the EVGA cards' pictures on Newegg is of a GTX 295.

I shouldn't go here but man I'm curious.. what's up with the positive vibe on this one? It's nVidia. Isn't everyone supposed to be ripping it a new one?

It's well priced, doesn't appear on the surface to have issues like high power consumption, and performs about where it should, possibly (since proper benchmarks aren't out yet).

People rip on NV when they have late, overpriced, power hungry cards etc.
If they have something reasonable coming out that looks like it will be competitive in most/all facets and put some pressure on prices/etc, then why would people rip NV a new one?
Contrary to popular belief, no one rags on products because they don't like the company, normally it's because they don't like the product.
Everyone was shit talking ATI when ATI was shit, and everyone has been shit talking NV when they have been poor.
