GTX 460 1GB owners thread.

I'm still rocking on 2 eVGA GTX 460 1GB overclocked to 840/1680/4200 in SLI. These cards just won't quit. I can even play FarCry 3 at 55 fps! I've had mine for 2 1/2 years and I won't be upgrading until the GTX 760 comes out. I'm not impressed with the current GTX 6xx line-up. It doesn't hurt having faster than normal frame-rates when your LCD is 'only' 1680x1050.

I think the high end 200 series and 400 series have aged well.

I was using GTS 250 for a while also and at 1680x1050 it did pretty good. It started to struggle on Metro 2033 on high graphics. 25-35 fps on high. Sometimes low as 10-15 in firefight.

Your also playing in a lower resolution so ya your system should fly... give you 60fps constant rarely hitting 50fps .. gl

These were pretty stout cards. Brother used one for a couple years. Then made the jump to 7870. Difference was pretty night and day though..

Yea, I am currently looking at purchasing 2 Radeon HD 7870s. I haven't had ATI GPUs for quite awhile but the 7870 is fast and cheap.

Still have my GTX 460, it served me well. It is not being used though since I got my 7970. I should get around to selling it.

My EVGA 460 that I had for 2 years just died the other day

Bought an HIS IceQ 7870 to replace it in that machine, should get it soon.

That 460 was an awesome little card while it lasted though, it died after slaving away nonstop in Folding@Home for the past couple of months.

I've been using a 460gtx since almost it came out. Haven't run into anything that would make me want to upgrade. I run ultralow resolution though (1360x768).

My 7970 at 16x10 can't play fc3 at max no AA and that is equivalent to a 460 tri sli or faster in terms of real world experience. So all this is bs.

The GTX 460 is a great card. I'm particularly fond of mine since I bought it two years ago at $160 and it came with a factory overclock to the tune of 850MHz. Still runs most games at High settings, but my HD 7950 Boost gives me 2x the framerate in most games.

I upgraded from a 6970 which was already faster than a supremely oced 460 and that is crap in games of 2012 h2 and later. So no, the 460 was okay in 2010, but not anymore.

I have owned upwards of 15 different video cards I would guess, and none of them hold a place in my heart like my pair of GTX 460 1GB in SLI.

Things overclocked like banshees, ran cool and quiet, and kicked butt in every game out there.

I remember going from the 'more powerful' hd5870 CF setup to gtx 460 SLI and realizing that for less money I was getting an overall better performer. Haven't gone AMD/ATI since then, you can kind of say Nvidia won me over with those little demons.

My overclocked 460 which performs in the 470/5870 territory, doesn't feel any slower than than my 7850 at stock. A 460 is still a very capable card if you stay within the VRAM limit.

I had a 5770 that died so I got a 6870. Was a nice improvement and then I got the 560ti 448. So I never did shoot for a 460 since it was still a hefty price used. I never did get a TI 4600 either (or 4400 or 4200)

A stock 460 is approx a stock 6850. And no matter how much you oc it, it can't match a 7850. Period. That is like a 50-70% performance diff for which oc isn't enuf. The diff may even be more. It is like saying a 560 ti 448 oced matches a 670. No. It doesn't.

Still rockin' mine, don't think I'll upgrade it until I get a new monitor anyways. Plays everything just fine at 1680x1050. Had plans on getting a 1920x1200 monitor, but funds keep getting pushed onto other toys. Someday I'll upgrade...

1080p monitors are dirt cheap now! Even 1440 monitors are crazy low.

Really...? I can max out FC3 @ 1080P with 2XAA and Frames are pegged at 60. Sometimes dropping to 52-55 in some heavy foliage. What are your settings?
