GTX 460 1gb OC vs HD 6970 2gb.

Okay, excuse my lack of understanding in the GPU arena.

I have a Zotac GTX 460 1gb OC edition and came across a Sapphire HD 6970 2gb Dual-X for cheap last month (of course; it's an old card).

I was assuming it would spank on my even older GTX 460...but it doesn't seem to. In the few games I've played, my FPS drop more with the 6970 than with the GTX 460.

I was using newest stable drivers for both.
Core i5-4590, 8gb ram, 550w OCZ Fatility modular, 1680x1050 res

Is there any software I can use to test this 6970 performance against others? Is it worth trying to overclocking it? Or is the GTX-460 a better card?

Thanks!

You can try 3dMark to benchmark your cards,or any ingame benchmark utility.
Also use Display Driver Uninstall utility to completely remove the old drivers and then reinstall the latest one.
btw which game are you playing?
Hd6970 is alot faster than a gtx460.

Can you list the games you are playing? What kind AA are you using in those games? MLAA/FXAA/MSAA/SMAA?

6970 is significantly faster unless you primarily play Blizzard games where it's possible for 460 to be a lot closer.
