Why does the HD4850 (at stock speeds, reference design) get a 7.3 on WEI in Win7 64-bit, while the GTX460 1GB, overclocked to 820Mhz, only scores 6.9???

Is there something wrong with my GTX460, or is WEI really that screwed up?

Edit: Post your graphics WEI scores, I'm curious what card scores what.

WEI is useless to a spectacular level. We'll be better off the sooner everyone forgets about that piece of crap. HDTune, 3dmark, Sandra, Prime95, Nuclear, etc, etc, just about anything is better.
 
My gigabyte GTX 460 1gb which is stock at 715 gets 7.5. Are you using both in the same system? I would think that the graphics score would not be the same with the same video card between different power core systems.
 
The rigs are identical. Both GA-P35-DS3R v1.0, both 2x2GB DDR2-800 Patriot RAM, both WD 6400AAKS. both LG IDE DVD burners. Both running Win7 64-bit. Both with Q9300 @ 3.0 (400 FSB, stock voltage)

The only thing different is the video cards. I figured that I would boot the second rig with the existing HD4850 that was in it from before.

Not sure how much faith I'd put in WEI. I have the same problem as link below where the RAM and video scores are not consistent between 32-bit and 64-bit Win7:

My RAM score won't go above 5.9 in 64-bit Win7 but there is no indication why it won't go higher (have an i3 530 as above link with same problem). My video is 6.8 for a 9600GT which isn't as bad as the drop at the link above, but my 3850 scored a 7.0 in 32-bit version of Win7 and 3850 is slower than a 9600GT. Tom's hierarchy chart will confirm.

The processor and hard disk scores seem to be the only consistent results. Seems the 64-bit version has a problem with WEI itself, or maybe it's a driver problem? Not sure, but maybe SP1 might fix it or maybe WEI is just a terrible benchmark. Probably the later.
 
I have had dual monitors hooked up give a 'bad' score in the video sections and I had a usb external HD , cause my hard drive score to go from 7.4 (ssd) to 5.9. Once I pulled the usb 2.0 cable out, the score went back to normal.

WEI don't mean anything, use something like 3dmark but even that is synthetic. I'd say use your fav game as benchmark.
 
7.7 on video and hard disk (SSD), 7.2 on CPU and RAM. Not really paying attention to it though.
 
Why the hate on WEI? It's like whining that your sharpie is harder to erase than a pencil. WEI is indicative of whether you meet some minimum performance metrics. In general, you're <3, <5, or are in good enough shape that WEI doesn't matter.
 
5.8 based on the HDD. (Seagate SATA in IDE mode)

Of course, I have Vista, and 5.9 is the maximum WEI score available)

IMO, it's a useless metric for overall performance.
