Guru3d just posted their preview on the 295. As expected, the card performs admirably, besting the 4870x2 in most cases (and in real games that people play, unlike the pictures that were leaked earlier). However, there is no information on the GTX 285, or any comparisons to earlier SLI combinations.

What do you think? Considering the 285 being an upgraded, smaller, faster, cooler 280, and the 295 being a hybrid of the 260 and 280, which will be faster? Even before benchmarks are out, I'm inclined to say that SLI 285s will be faster, while drawing more power and taking up two PCI-E slots.

285 SLI without a doubt. Higher clocks, more ROPs, more bandwidth (bus and speed), more VRAM and no shared PCIE slot. Even 280 SLI will beat it at stock. Depending on max overclockability of the 295, there may be numerous SLI configs that beat the 295.

I suppose I didn't think about the hardware enough - it seems so obvious now, though. And yes, I'm aware of the cost :D. I'm still going to probably use my step-up on both my 260s to two 285s.
