Damn, there are some huge performance gains in some games.

I'm glad I held off testing 8.12 as 9.1 should be more interesting. It'll be interesting to see how my 4850 reacts to them.

Well if the 8-12 hotfix is any indication:

we may see some improvement with Multicore:

* Improves DirectX10 performance in various applications in multi-core CPU systems
* Resolves BSOD issues using dual ATI Radeon HD 4850 in CrossFireX configurations.

i am getting a q9550, i believe, good timing and i just finished all my own testing - to date [!!] thru Cat 8-12 and GF 181.20
- my results are all published this weekend

i am a bit surprised with these results - the X2 does pretty well against GTX295 with Cat 9-1 - especially when you crank up the AA/AF at higher resolutions

Looking through those number, I'm not really sure that the $100 premium for the GTX295 is really justified.

I saw a few GTX260 vs. Radeon 4870 reviews that were very similar. In games and settings that didn't matter so much in real world or the performance difference didn't matter, it looked like the GTX260 was faster. Say 110FPS vs. 95FPS. But it seems where the extra power would matter, the 4870 is generally better, say 35FPS vs. 28FPS.
