I'm powering mine with a Enermax 625W Modu82. A high quality 500W PSU could power a 280 just fine.

Ok, just checking since someone on Newegg stated that the previous PSU requirement specs that NV released weren't accurate and it was best to have 800+ watts.

As long as you have the proper PCI-e connectors on that SS it will do fine

That's good to hear, I just read a second review of the 280 I am looking at that said you should have 800w or so, the user states that his 700w was not enough.

Dont ever read a newegg review. Seriously.

As long as you have 550W + The correct amount of amperage (40a) the card will do just fine.

I think we can assume that someone who thinks they need a 800W PSU for it probably doesn't know how to pick a decent PSU either...

I've actually always found Newegg reviews to be an excellent first line of troubleshooting for potential problems and fixes. Obviously don't take everything as gospel but its very concise and focused feedback on a particular product.

I wish I could say you'll have no problems with a particular PSU with these cards but there's enough troubleshooting threads over in the EVGA GTX 200 series forums to raise some concern. Like others said though, if you have a quality PSU with sufficient amperage where it counts on the 12V, you should be fine. If there's a problem take it up with SilverStone, what I've seen is mfgs are quick to please by correcting problems rather than risk the reputation they're selling PSUs that fall short of advertised specs.

The official PSU requirements on these cards are heavily overstated in order to cover weak units. You should be fine with most high quality models of 500W or more. I'm using a 520W OCZ with a 33A 12V line and it's more than enough, as my system's power draw on load comes out to around 290W when adjusted for the unit's efficiency.
