Shouln't be too much of a probalem as far as size goes. But you will need to upgrade the PSU.

The PSU should handle it...it's 700 watts...also I'm thinking if my 2 gig of memory should be increased to 4 gigs when I go to the GTX 260 video card. I'm into Gaming and the one game that gives me problems is Crysis. This game brings most computers to their knees. It's a sight to behold but a beast when it comes to FPS....and I don't like slow

Not all 700w PSUs are created equal. What make is it? Play Crysis at 1280x1024 and your GTX 260 will eat it for breakfast!

Are you a Hell's Angel or an Outlaw?:)

It's not a PowerSnaggle 700 is it? :D
Seriously, please give us the make and model of your power supply so we can look up the specs.
Reason: Some cheapo 700W PSU's could actually have less power/stability than a better quality 350W PSU's.
So, we are not asking in vain.

I'm pretty sure i've seen the PSU in one of those & i remember thinking how it wasn't too bad considering how crappy OEMs usually are.

Sadly i don't remember +12v amperage numbers...give us those OP :)

Well the machine obviously isnt going to be overclocked... I dont think ive seen a power supply rated that high that didnt have at least 22A on the 12v which would be more than enough for a unoverclocked gateway + GTX260.

Hi Keyplayr,,,,,is you Q6600 a 2.4 ? If so how does your GTX 280 run on your system. I have a 2.4 and hope it will handle the GTX 260.

So is your a 2.4 or 3.....the reason I'm asking is mine is a 2.4 but no one can tell me from experience if it will work with the 260.
I was hoping I could find someone with a 2.4 so they could tell me.

Are you asking if the 260 will work, as in function, with a stock clocked Q6600? If that's the question, any cpu you can buy today can be used with the 260, however in certain games at certain resolutions, the cpu will limit the frames per second that the 260 is capable of producing, at anything below 1900x1200 you should be just fine with a stock clocked Q6600.

i have almsot the same setup as krnmasters. and i have a gtx 260. for me it was a breeze getting the q6600 to 3.0 ghz and it only really helped in Crysis and Assassins creed. other than that, UT3 runs maxed at 62 FPS all the time at 1600x1200 and 2xAA and 4xAF

the stock q6600 was good enough tho. but for crysis it helped some.

Well that's good to know. I'll be in good shape then. It seems we play the same type of games. I know I'm not going to have the fastest system in the world but I just want to have good FPS so I can enjoy the games. I know Crysis will be a bear. I can hardly play it with the card I have now. I can play everything else at a very decent frame rate but Crysis is very slow.

This is why I'm getting the 260. It seems that everyone want to play Crysis at a decent frame rate...lol....go figure. Take me for example...I'm spending well over $200 just to play Crysis . Far Out...lol
