As tittle stated. Galaxy are like a tiny upgrade from any other GTX470 with better cooling, noise level, and i guess pricing.

Wonder what everyone thinks about this option.

I'm sorry I just can't recommend any nvidia cards right now. You ever thought about a 5850? Mine runs great and seems much faster than my gtx 280. It's like half the size too. I'm really impressed with ATI this time.

Wow. The GTX 470 isn't very compelling if you have a higher end GTX 2XX card (unless you absolutely have to have DX11).

I c, reason why i leaned toward NV is for future security DX11 and heavy tessellation . I do imaging and 3d rendering as well and Cuba will help in that part. And for games wise, performance isn't a really big gap between GTX470 vs 5870 and price are $100+ apart.

I don't upgrade much so when I do i tend to dig deep for more of future security thing.. like last around 2-4 years? :)

Anyway since its not really worth it, ill just lay back and wait more. Thank you the replies.

2-4 years? It's probably better to buy a $180 graphics card and in 2 years get another $180. I say unless the games you play are slow/chopping, then just don't buy for the sake of "future-proofing".

Bought an 8800 GTX in December 2006 to replace a Radeon X1800 XT (which was still fine for the games I was playing then). Replaced it in March of this year. 3 years and 3 months and I was quite happy with it even up to when I purchased the new card (basically could have waited another six months I would think).

Sometimes its O.K. to stick your neck out and pay big bucks for whats top-of-the-line at the time.

8800GTX was one of the best investments in a long time. Fast forward to GTX280 however. If you bought that at a launch price of $650, then just 12 months later, you could have had similar performance in both 4890 and GTX275 for $200 or even less with rebates. This would have meant a loss of $450 in just 12 months. In that scenario, buying top-of-the-line would have been a poor decision. So it just depends on the overall videocard market (which currently is plagued by 40nm shortages, no signs of smaller node from TSMC and NV's uncompetitiveness for 7 months).

I currently still have a GTX275 and see no real need to upgrade, but then, I am only runing dual 22' monitor.
