Gts-v or Gf2pro... present for a friend

I'm wondering if there is a big enough performance difference between these two cards to justify buying a Gf2pro over the GTS-V. The gts-v is only $46 at Newegg compared to the 69$ for the gforce2pro. This is a card for my friend who has a 500 mhz P3 with a tnt2... I need a card that will be able to run Counter-Strike, preferably at a constant 99 fps or at least 70+ fps.

I'm not really sure about the performance of the GtS-v so I'm wondering if it will be able to run well in his computer. I have a gf2pro that I put in his computer before and it ran CS really well at 99fps I think. Just wondering if the GTS-v can do this too...

Also, is this card better than I Gf2mx400? Because I can get it for cheaper than the GTS-v

If your friend is into overclocking fun, the GTS-v will clock near Pro speeds, but if not, go for the real deal. The GTS-v will smoke the MX 200/400 series big time.

I was going to mention that if you thought TV-out was a feature that your friend would appreciate, then pick up the GF2 Pro. But, now that I look, it it currently out of stock. Maybe you picked up the last one? ;)

I'd go with the GTS-V. The Pro is a decent amount faster, but either card should be able to sustain 99FPS in CounterStrike, and with only a 500MHz PIII your going to be processor limited in any case so the Pro won't net you much benefit over the GTS-V with that processor.

Either card will be faster then a GF2 MX400.

I have an Elsa Gladiac that I'm not using, and don't have a computer to put it in (nor will I in the forseeable future). Only 32 MB, but it's an okay card. In it's time it was cool.

The GTS-V should be alright, but the GF2 Pro will easily outperform it. Also, if you look in the right places you might be able to find a RADEON 7500 DDR for $70-$80, which easily outperforms the GF2 Pro.

<< OT: I saw this and did a price check on some cards, found 3D labs Wildcat III for only $2,739.93 >>

I think that's a little out of his price range :p
Not to mention the WildCat III 6210 is still a bit slower then the GF2 Pro in most games.
Then theirs always that tiny problem that I rather doubt he is using a motherboard capable of running the WildCat III.
