GTS overclocking...Suggestions.......

I've tried using 3Dmark2k as my stability test for my GTS and when I push the mem to 340Mhz, the test just hangs. Then I shifted to Quake3 for the stability test and I managed to push the memory all the way to a whopping 400Mhz with no artifacts!

Which is a better stability benchmark program? The Quake3 or 3Dmark2k? I managed to run quake3 pretty stable. How do I get the framerates on the Quake3Demo? What are the commands?

well considering u can actually play Quake as opposed to just viewing with 3dmark then stick with quake...also u could try some other direct3d programs to make sure all is ok....id throw some ramsinks on it just in case..i overclocked the SDR ram on my original gefore to 220Mhz and ran flawlessly..one day a single ramsink fell off and i didnt know..the card blew out a ram chip out and now displays visual anamolies even at default speeds.

i stuck mine on with thermal tape. but u could use superglue. ive superglued a 486 heatsink to my tnt before and to this day its still running cool.

I got mine from here 🙂 It's $10 if you get the GeForce GTS cooling kit with it (HSF unit for the core and 8 RAM sinks).

Sadly, I did mine before the release of 3DMark 2001, so I can't say about the stability of it, but I was able to overclock my memory 10Mhz more without any artifacts at all. The RAMsinks get pretty damn warm. There're a lot of naysayers of RAMsinks, but don't believe them 🙂

Do you have any of those spare Epoxy? It seems kinda complicated to apply it. I might go with the thermal tape if I'm tight on budget. Still looking around for it. 🙂
