I own the following GPU:
Asus ENGTS 450 DirectCU/DI/1GD5

So after "upgrading" my desktop from Windows 8 to Windows 10 I started having low performance issues with this GTS 450. Before that I was able to run Steam games like CS:S and Wolfenstein The New Order on maximum settings flawlessly. For the record, I did pick up the correct driver for this card and OS.

So later I thought I'd split my drive and get me the latest Ubuntu to see if this helps my low FPS. I noticed that I was now able to play the (few) games that are available for Linux systems without any problem.

What could possibly be the issue that makes this card not compatible with Windows anymore?. Does Nvidia no longer support this card at all? Are there alternative drivers which do work properly for Windows 10?

Here's a few more specs:
Model: Acer Aspire M7720
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67GHz
RAM: 6 GB DDR3
Chipset: Intel X58
Hard Disk: Internal Serial ATA 7200 RPM 1 TB

Any hints would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks in advance,
