GTS 250 to replace my 9600gso

What would you pay to upgrade a 9600gso 386meg to a 55nm GTS 250 512meg, given my system in my sig? I am trying to find out how much I should offer someone for the theirs. I normally game at 1280x1024. Would it be worth $40, $60, or $80 bucks to do this upgrade? Don't forget I should be able to sell my 9600gso for $20-$30 to further reduce the cost, at least I think I can?

But would it be worth $75 to upgrade from what I have with my cpu and at the resolution I play. I might can get it cheaper since it is from a friend. Just want to know at what point is the price to high for the performance difference?

maybe try for a used hd4770 on ebay or if you got the cash get a used hd4870. older parts are little cheaper on ebay.

75$ - 9600gso = 50$. Yes, for 50$ it would be a great upgrade. 50%+ faster.

Since this is coming from a friend the price to performance ratio will better than anything in FS/FT or ebay.

Huh? 50$ for a gpu that can barley play games to a gpu that can play the latest games is a great deal.

'Barely' may be stretching it (assuming this is the 96sp version; with 384MB I think it is). I got in on the deal with CoD:WaW bundled for $35 a year or so ago, threw it in my parents' machine, and it handles just about anything (Crysis at medium, most other games high). Plus it's running on a 350W generic power supply - pretty amazing little card.

oh, there's no doubt that's a huge gpu upgrade, I'm just commenting on the relative value of the 2 cards: $65 for a used gts 250 512mb card and $25 for the 9600gso.

The 9600gso is a 96sp version, and I did try the Crysis demo when it came out. I was surprised it ran so well. It is a strong little card if you keep the resolution low enough.
