GTR producing a lot more horses than the advertised 480

Sweet!

Now it's time for them to "mistakenly" replace the majority of the car with carbon fiber parts.

i thought it's because the engines are hand-made thus they are all a little different?

i wouldn't expect it to be that different
1 - 2 hp max

1-2hp variation on a ~500hp engine would be absolutely spectacular, well above what current technology and expendatures would allow. I'd hazard to guess that 3-5% variation would be more normal for really tightly controlled engine assemblies. 5% of 480 is 24 hp. With handmade, difference would be greater.

It's known that Nissan had held back the advertised hp for the GTR.

Before, the Japanese had the "Gentleman's Agreement" between Mitsubishi, Subaru, Nissan, Honda, etc. Many of their cars, such as the Evolution, STI, GTR R32-R34 could produce well over the Agreement limited 276hp, however the cars were advertised as 276hp because of the agreement. The agreement is now nonexistant. Nissan is probably doing what they did years ago and giving the press fake hp numbers. The upcoming GTR V-Spec (Spec V) should have more than 520hp imo.

This has been known for a LONG time. Like geokilla mentioned, they have a history of underrating their engines.

Yea when the first performance times came out for it, people automatically knew that it was underrated

Their drive train estimates are off, Nissan has stated its closer to 10-15%. I'll see if I can dig up the link.

69,850 for base model!
71,900 for Premium Edition. At that rate, might as well just make them all Premium. Damn. Retarded to have only a few grand difference when they cost that much!

But they aren't selling for that much. They are going for about 20k over premium. The dealer in Charlotte had one and priced at 92k.

I just shot an email to my friend who put in a order for a 2009 GT-R asking if he had to pay that much.

How do you know they only lose 15%??? They underrated their power figures so you have to go with the common percentage loss on AWD then factor that in on the dyno. Also most cars are not 20% drive train loss. FWD, RWD, AWD, all different.
