I know the gto2 is the enthusiast bargain of the year so far, but my question is: With the gto2 being 16 pipes and the gto being 12 pipes, doesnt that still make the gto a bargain of a deal. Essentially an X800XL for like 50-75 dollars less. Maybe im wrong, anybody got any thougts on that? Thx

no gto is 8 pipes. gto2 is 12pipes, moddable almost guranteed to 16pipes.
x800xl is 16pipes.

gto- 12 pipes
gto2- 12 pipes (but supposedly people get them with 16 unlocked)

From the benchmarks I've seen, a normal gto2 is slower than an x800pro, which can typically be found cheaper than a gto2.

Never seen any gto benchmarks..

All GTO2's (only made by Sapphire) can be unlocked to 16 pipelines because they use X850 chips. So basically, without any overclocking, you have an X850. However, if you overclock, you can usually get it up to X850XT PE speeds.

That looks like the geometry proof I did on my exam today. Except it was seven steps :D

good old geomety. god, im 12 and doing geometry. i dont have a life :(

ahem... .back on topic, the gto2 is the best bang for the buck out there. it is a 99.999% garentee 16 pipes, and overclocks EXTREMELY well.

I think the GTO would still be a good value. It is right at the $180.00 mark.. If your budget is slim, then it is a big difference from the GTO2.
I'm trying to figure out where everyone is saying the GTO2 is only $20 more.??

Where can you still get the GTO2 for $200??

since the gto2 is either sold out or jacked up in price, an alternative is any x850pro with VIVO. newegg has a sapphire for $244 delivered that only needs a few tweaks to become an x850 xt. the instructions at http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/overclocking/vidcard/100 worked fine for me. i'm getting about x845 xt speeds (500 core/1100 mem) with the stock cooler... i got impatient and didn't let atitool find the max settings.
