GTA3: Vice City on my comp?

If it makes me look any better there is now a dent in my computer from where I punched it yesterday. I do realize it's slow. Anyway it is a Celeron 1000 with 512 ram and a gf 3 ti 200 overclocked a good bit. So will this game play on my comp or not? I realize i'd have to go low on graphics settings and even more I realize I need an upgrade. Thanky!

Should run it. From what I've heard, they optimized this one better than GTA3. It doesn't require a scarifical goat and a beast of a system every time you want to play now.

She knows I need an upgrade. I could get one but I'm too cheap! I heard the minimum reqs for the game were like a celeron 1200 🙁 But my ram and video are better than the cpu relatively speaking.

I bet the bottleneck is your vid card..... lots to process... although the processor is probably a problem too....

What chipset is your processor? For about $100 I bet you could drop in a P3......

Or get an Athlon mobo combo for about $125 w/ mobo and XP

My mobo is a 5 year old asus P2B. Started its life out with a P2 300. It's at wit's end in terms of how good a CPU it's gonna get. The next upgrade I get will cost several hundred because I'll need to overhaul the mobo and cpu and ram!

I have a similar system with my HTPC and too am interested in how it will run. I'm also curious if anyone with both GTA3 & VC has tried swapping some files (probably drvmgt.dll & mss32.dll) around from VC to get GTA3 to run better.

I doubt Skoorb will have a problem playing the game. I have a 950 MHz Duron, 256MB PC133, and a GeForce2 GTS. The game runs smoothly, but I had to sacrifice some quality. With a Ti200, you can probably crank up the graphics a lot more.

When I played GTA3 on my P3 933, 512 PC-133, GeForce 3 Original it played like a champ @ 1024x768.

It should run fine, actually. I'm surprised how well it runs on my PC.

The performance of the game feels SO different than GTA3. They're really overhauled the engine.. or fixed the masses of bugs in GTA3.

It'll run fine on that. I've tested it on my notebook which has 512mb, p3-1ghz, and a 64mb Radeon 7500. Ran fine at 640x480x16. Haven't tested higher yet though.
