I'm stuck on a mission -- Staunton Island

What strategy do you use to kill Kenji on the rooftop of the parking garage? If you get out of the Columbian Gang Vehicle, they recognize you. There's also some dude up there with some sort of bad-a$$ weapon that blows you sky-high with one shot.

Anyone remember this?

I had that same problem earlier today. When you get to where the phone is supposed to be, don't go DOWN the ramp, instead go a little to the right and go over the sidewalk. The phone is to your left.

Its not in the parking garage, it's on the opposite street...drive around and you'll see it, at ground level...not down in the parking garage.

Try going all the way around the building. It just might be that there is an indentation on the other side of the building and the phone is there.

Also, there is a GTA3 Q/A thread on anandtech right next to this one...

I'm having the toughest time on the Staunton Island phone call mission with the suicide bombers. Anyone have any tips or hints as to how not to get blown up?

No, it's the one for Queen Lizzy where you have 1 minute 30 seconds to drive to a car. When you get there, vans come out and then bombers try and blow you up.

I haven't made it that far yet. Can you help with my original question? See top post.

Unfortunately, no, I can't. I did the first mission for Asuka on Staunton Island then I started the missions for Queen Lizzy, so I haven't done anything else in Staunton Island. Technically, I think you're further along in the game than I am.

Is this the 'kill the informant' level? If it is, just find the perfect spot in the alleyway behind the building and chuck a grenade in the upper floor window. The garage door underneath will open up and you'll need to kill the car coming out.

Will the grenade go thru the glass? It seems like it just bounced off when I tried it before?

There is no glass. I find it usefull to park another car in the alley it comes out of... A nice big car like a garbage truck.

The Kenji mission - I just drove the humV like a mofo - striaght around the blockades and such and ran kenji over, then jumped off the ramp off the roof to escape. Took a couple tries.

Queen Lizzy:
Simple - run away! Run, run away!
Seriously, I booked it outta there, dodging the bombers, then ran around to where you can walk up a ledge to a little roof/balcony overlooking that lot (find the balcony thing before doing the mission and practice getting to it fast). Then they were easy to pick off (vans and bombers).

"What strategy do you use to kill Kenji on the rooftop of the parking garage? If you get out of the Columbian Gang Vehicle, they recognize you. "

First I made sure my car was tip-top before going up. After the short cut scene where they show everybody, go up on the left ramp (facing kenji on your right and the jump ramp on your left). Get to the top level and gun it, while sticking to the wall (rail?) kenji is on. Run him over. Keep on gunning in until you get to the other side, do a quick turnaround and use the jump that's straight ahead to jump off the parking garage. Make sure you do it straight or you'll flip and blow up. Keep going straight for awhile until it says "ditch the car" ... Just get out and you've got it.

exactly. the gangster humvee must be in pristine condition. no nicks or scratches if you can avoid them.
you'll need the car in perfect condition so you can absorb the few shots the japanese will peel off at you.
the approach is also important. one side has parked car which you must swing around to reach kenji,
the other side doesn't (if i recall correctly).

that other side leaves kenji more exposed, giving you a cleaner hit and mucho opportunity to slam into
reverse and spin out of there. you'll need to be a good driver to get that car out of that crunch and into
the parking level below without subjecting your vehicle to greater damage than necessary.
