This isn't something that we imagine happens an awful lot, but a Gloucestershire man apparently obtained pure ecstasy over the weekend with a pre-owned copy of Grand Theft Auto - and we don't mean that he was really happy, either.

Richard Thornhill apparently bought himself two different pre-owned Grand Theft Auto games last weekend, though it isn't specified which ones exactly, at a GameStation in Cheltenham. He took the games home, opened them and found that one of the boxes contained a plastic bag with four ecstasy tablets inside. Thornhill then did what any responsible person would do and took the pills, which had been hidden in the game manual, to the police.

"I have two children and my son plays Xbox all the time," said Mr Thornhill in a comment to The Telegraph, obviously oblivious to the age rating on the game.

"He could easily have opened the box and found them. I dread to think what the consequences would have been if he had. He is only 12. He could have died."

Is GameStation likely to be prosecuted for drug-dealing now? No, though they have launched an immediate effort to track down the source of the drugs and are helping the police with their investigation.

"We have rigorous procedures for accepting pre-owned titles and checking them before they are put back on sale," said a GameStation spokesperson.

Rigorous, I tell you!! Rigorous enough to miss a bag of E.

Seriously, he sounds like an idiot without following up with some sort of admission of responsibility like, "but this one fell through the cracks".
