GTA-Vice City "The Shootist"...........figured it out!!

Anyone get past this part, at the shooting range, you have to score 60 pts to get Phil to help ya on next mission.

I've been struggling over 2 weeks now....at wits end....need suggestions or tips.

I realize that you concentrate on the back 2 targets....i'll get the farthest one first, then before that one comes back i can pound out the 2nd one....i think the most points i had gotten so far has been like 20 in that round
...... it seems to me, that 1st round is THE one to rack up 50-60 pts there alone....because the last 2 rounds seem way to hard to rack up alot of points.
Not looking for any cheats.
Appreciate anything to go on, Thanx.

I don't remember having problems completing this mission? Seems pretty easy to me.. u just need to destroy the targets with your gun.. there's nothing to it!

you know....it could be me. it seemed like an easy mission at first....but after the 20th try, you'd think i'd have it mastered.

I wouldn't worry about the middle one since you have enough time to use up all of your ammo, so just concentrate on the farthest target. Of course, that means you can't afford to miss too often either! 😛

And you're right -- if you do the first part without missing too much, you can basically fool around on the next two parts and still meet the quota.

I dont remember that on being that hard...now the on where you have to race Hilary seemed to give me some problems.

only bother with the far target and dont rush it too much

ps. as for the hillary race, park a fast car on the pavement after the corner at the (first i think) little bridge, and try to knock hillary about until you get there. after that the hard part is to aviod any crashes. sneaky tip, before you actually complete this, start a race then just get out and wair outside the malibu, eventually he'll finish the race and crash his car which you can put into a garage. i remember it being trickier than that sounds though, and there was a suggestion its better to snipe him as he comes accross the bridge behind the malibu. you'll fail the mission, but will get an near-invincible car 🙂

I couldn't even finish the stupid RC missions (the side missions with the car and plane) trying to get 100%
It's hard not having a gamepad.

Well, i finally got passed that....you guys are going to think i'm some dumba$$ though....i do feel stupid....problem was, i was tryin to be a rambo wanna-be, meaning just layin on the trigger...it helps to shoot 1 shot at a time, not firin off round after round....doing it that way, got through in a breeze....FINALLY!!
Took 21X to figure that out....geez 😱

Heh... I just yesterday managed to bomb cuban drug boats... I haven't managed to kill the 9 people though. I've been doing the cuban & haitian missions instead hoping to get a better arsenal with which to kill the targets. By the way, is there any way to get more ammo for the really big guns? (the sniper and the gun that sounds like theone on the police helicopter)

find more and more hidden packages and more and more cool weapons will spawn at your safe houses.

I beat it on PS/2 with a gamepad on the first try...

thats why 😉

most people using pads on their pc say its not too bad, practically everyone on mouse/keyboard hates these missions.

Flying is VERY hard on a PC... pitch are numpad 6/9, bomb is ctrl, wasd for throttle/roll... you have to reach all over the place 😉

Although you can do it becuase for flying the mouse dosen't work, but after spending so much time with your left hand on wsad and right on the mouse, it just seems wrong to control like that.

I scored 93 THE FIRST TIME on "The Shootist". Neener! 😛 I finished all the story missions and am just poking around, doing rampages, but otherwise, I'm done. I'm at 59%, but don't care to spend/waste the time on 100%. It's not like chicks are impressed by that!

The WORST missions were the RC chopper blowing up the building one, racing Hillary (though I did it with the Sentinal - the trick is to jam him in traffic and exploit any error he makes, while not goofing yourself) and the two boat jumping missions. Gack!

*** TIPS FOR BIG MONEY AND EASY MISSION COMPLETION - NON-CHEATERS AVOID ***

To make a quick $30,000 auto racing (you must own Sunshine Motors), select the longest race, but before you start, park in front of the start grid and blast the other cars with the bazooka! (In the nearby hotel pool.) After they're all blowed up real good, enjoy a leisurely drive to victory.

To get the Rhino (tank), get A LOT of ammo for your machine guns then start killing people while standing on the porch of The Malibu Club. (This prevents choppers from getting you from above.) Cap any cops that come for you and get a 6-star wanted level. Eventually, the Rhino will come and ram the building. Ice the soldiers, hop in and make for Sunshine Motors. Park it in the rightmost garage (where you've left a car), switch to the car and drive into the paint booth - BAM! - no stars and a free tank! (It came in handy for a later mission when I got sick of being bothered by bangers.

The Candy Suxxx spotlight mission is whack if you try it on the bike, but easy if you jump off the rooftop and go to your nearby hi-rise hideout that has the helicopter on the roof. Land on the spots and win!

For the mission with Lovefist's bombed limo, drive straight following the left turn at the end of the street, then turn right at the police station's corner, heading south along the shore road. Tap the gas just enough to keep the meter from filling and drive on the median as long as you can. By NOT flooring it, you'll only have to contend with turning around down by the boatyards/docks and should be defused before you even get on the shore road again.

You're welcome!😀

I found it pretty easy as well.
Ignore the ammo thing, just keep pressing fire. I managed to amass about 38 points in the first round alone.

That RC Helicopter mission was annoying, and the RC plane, where you have to bomb a moving boat. The race against Hilllary was pretty easy imo.

Or you could just aim a rocket at the middle of the three cars, which`ll then blow up all three for you. Or, get all the cars for all the car lists in Sunshine Autos, and use the Stock Racer car, its really fast. Easyer either way.

I found it pretty easy. Ive got a save just before that mission, so i can do it again, its so fun. Its easyier to do it on the Sanchez rarther than the PJC-600. The Sanchex doesnt slow down going up the ramps.

I tryed that way, but found it annoying, so what i did, is as soon as i got in the limo, did a quick u turn, and went accross prawn island, and made my way to the beach, and just drove around the beach at full speed, nothing to get in your way there.

The only mission I can't get past is the one where you flyer the city for the pron movies. Any tips?

You have to fly really well at the beginning...then after that one where it the fly through is between two buildings and very close to another, it gets kinda easy.

I'm having trouble with the last mission. any tips to actually get UP on the roof with some health still left?

I've tried going out and getting a helicopter, but still had to come back through the building and got all shot up again.

Heres what i did, and it worked everytime.
1) At beggining of mission, stand at top of main stairs with M16, shoot at everything that comes.
2) When you have to shoot at lance, go back into your office, get out your UZI, and spring towards lance, past him, down the corridors leading to the staircase.
3) Jump over the railings, down to the bottom, get more health and armour and ammo from room at bottom, sprint to top of stairs ignore anyone that shoots at you, but dont go to helipad yet, just wait there for a minute or so, so tommy gets his breath back.
4) Spring to the right, up ramp, to where the helicopter is, they dont come up here, so either lop a few grenades over the railings behind them, or slowly edge out, take out one of the people, and then edge out again, then just paste lance with your heavist weapon that you have, after his goon are dead though. Or as before, lob a grenade over the railings.
5) Make your way back to the main stairs, without going to the ground floor, go on the level that your office is, watch the cut scene, And yet again paste Sonni Forelli with your heavist weapon, this time though, ignoring his goons.
6) You have just completed the main story line of GTA: Vice City. Well Done.

Notes.
By heavisy weapon, i mean bullet baced, not rockets, or flame throwers.
For the heavy weapon, i reccommend the anti-aircraft gun that you get early on in the game, or can buy from "Phils Place"
It may take a few trys.

Hope this helps.

Just worry about the petrol.
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha.........im done now. I`ll go sit in that corner over there now. lol.

Just buy a gravis eliminator gamepad ($20) and the game is much much easier. I am curious if anyone has actually finished 100%, and what do you get for this?
