GTA Vice City Question

When the people speak on the street, is it supposed to sound like they are speaking in a ally or something? It sounds echoy. I just want to see if this is normal or not.

...A bit off topic, but has anyone found the beach ball? It's 😎

so what are you supposed to do with the beach ball. BTW, I didnt notice anything unusual about the sound of the Vice City pedestrians.

Kick it around?

It's just cool that they would add something so pointless.

I wonder if there are any known issues with onboard nforce audio and GTA:VC. I haven't come across any reference to it from web searches, and the problem could be the audio drivers because I have also had the sound effects get echoy when using one of the enviromental sound settings, even though it was a setting that had no echo.

A similar thing happens to me on my Audigy, when i quit some games, all my sound goes echoy and i have to reset to enviroment thing in the audigy sound options.
For Vice City, though, change the sound driver. That might help, alot of my sound related probs in GTA3/VC have been fixed by changing the sound driver.

Bounce it on your head. If you do it enough times successively, it adds a perk in your stats.

I kicked the ball a couple of times after boinking a hooker at the beach (purely for health reasons) and it disappeared after 3-4 kicks.

Any way to enable force feedback in this game? (cordless logitech wingman rumble pad)

peace

I found a fix for my audio problems!

I set the sound hardware acceleration down a notch.

Sound is now better than ever. 😀

actually the echoying sound comes from using EAX. To fix the problem just choose another sound mode. BTW, taking the hardware acceleration down only disabled EAX support (if u dont believe me, try to select EAx with the acceleration a notch down). I putting hardware acceleration at full and just choose another sound mode.

To change the sound mode in VC or GTA3, go to the sound options, and there is an option you can change there. The default is auto-detect, i think.

While on this topic: does vice city have any persistence in what happens during game or is it like GTA 3 where car accidents and carnage disappears as soon as you turn your back? I wish that stuff would stay on the map longer so I can litter a city with burnign wreckage and mayhem

It does stay for a little while. But it still disappears.

If you leave a car somewhere (non distroyed) you can usually go back for it, though.

ah ok, i'll try that.

On a related VC problem, when I drive around town pretty fast (I only use bikes...mostly the Valkyrie) I always end up seeing places with missing textures etc. which get loaded after a few seconds then the place looks right. any idea how to fix this?

I think running it in win98 compatibility mode will do the trick...

Or putting the frame limiter on.
