My config is XP 3200+, 9600 Pro, audigy 2 zs, seagate 120 GB sata, 512 MB single channel ram.

when I run san andreas it crashed to desktop during some cutscenes, and at other times randomly. A window opens on desktop and says VPU recover has reset something or other. I'm not on the comp at the moment and i can't remember exactly what it said. I am using catalyst 5.5

SA has not crashed for me yet on a 2600@2.5, 9800P, 1GB RAM, but it has frozen up several times at the beginning of cutscenes. I just Ctrl-Alt-Del to shutdown the game and it works fine the next time.

<--- patiently waits for a patch

Mine locks up everytime I try to start the "Robbing Uncle Sam" mission. Not sure what I can do about it

I was running on very high fx settings and 1024x768, i've switched to high fx settings and 800x600 (*cry*) and it crashes less now, and when it does the game exits and the windows error message pops up "bla.exe" has encountered a problem and must be shutdown etc etc etc"

Crashes for me also, but I'm overclocked. After the first crash I bumped up the voltage and it did it again near the same instance. Later today I will resort to stock speed to make sure that fixes it (I'm guessing it will).

I think I found the culprit. Uninstall Catalyst, download and reinstall whatever version you were running. Make sure Overdrive is Locked and VPU Recover disabled - it hasn't crashed for me since I turned off Overdrive and disabled VPU Recover.
