GTA: San Andreas and BF2 won't load on my comp any more

I'm thinking this could be a video card or driver issue. I had a 7800GT installed in this comp and San Andreas wouldn't load. I double click on the icon and nothing. Then I sold that card and installed an X1900XT. San Andreas loaded perfectly after that. Recently I sold that card and got an X1800XL (don't ask) and now San Andreas won't load up.

Last night I got a copy of BF2 (finally!) and played it twice. This morning it won't load! I double click on the shortcut, then my screen goes black for about a second and then I find myself back out on my desktop?!?!

Oblivion, NFS Most Wanted, Tiger Woods 06, HoMM 5 etc. play just fine but these two are killing me. Any ideas?

Yeah could be a driver issue. I had the same problem with BF2 when I used a CRT for a week then back to my LCD. I ended up finding that it was trying to set the refresh rate and/or resolution to something not supported by a LCD (i.e. 85hz) thus tried loading to a black screen then back to desktop. You might want to check out your BF2 profile .con file to see if there is a specified resolution and refresh rate that looks like it might be the problem. Just a guess cause I had the same symptoms from that. Or maybe a reinstall + re-patch of BF2 might be required. Or try uninstalling your video card drivers, using something like Driver Cleaner (since you might have quite a bit of remnants to Nvidia drivers or the X1900XT) then re-installing the ATI drivers.

Not sure on San Andreas, but maybe something from above would fix that in the process.
