I have recently upgraded my mobo, cpu, gpu, and ram.

I thought I would give GTA IV a try, I always avoided it because I heard of the bad performance unless you had a quad core cpu.

The game has been pretty fun so far, and it looks fantastic all modded up.

I hate the way the game saves games though, that seems pretty lame.

Anyway here are a few shots of my playthru .

Ya, it's a good game for sure. One criticism is that it's too serious compared to San Andreas, but still a good game. Ran into a couple major bugs, one of them prevented me from completing the final mission, but overall it was quite flawless.

It is fun, but really could have benefitted from a quick save option, or at the very least , a better save system than what is in place, IMHO.

I have never played San Andreas.

It was an okay game with good graphics but SA was better. If you are looking for a fun game in the same style of the GTA series (Though its not as "serious" as the GTA series.) then try out Saints Row 3.

GTA4 is alot of fun. Every now and then me and a few friends will make a FFA server and just drive around killing randoms who join and stuff. Stupid fun game, really nailed open world correctly. Could have been improved with a coop campaign.

Those mods add a nice level of detail.

What mods did you use? Any problems installing them (did they play nice with each other)? How are the framerates for your system with those mods?

I only patched the game to 1.0.4.0, it seemed most mods called for that.

I am using the Better City Textures Mod

Quite a few different cars, installed individually as I could noyt get a car pack to work right.

ENB series mod

Maybe a few other minor mods, nothing that makes much difference.

Settings are maxed and it runs between 40-50 fps most of the time.....does dip into 30's at times also, but not much and is not a problem.

The reflections on the cars seem alittle to much at times and I have tried tweaking them in enbseries ini, but I have really not found a fix that I like.

I guess it is what it is.

The Better City Texture mod is fantastic, but it is quite hugh at around 7.5 GB

I didn't like the Saints Row games, I preferred Just Cause 2 or Crackdown. GTA4 is still my favourite though.

Love GTA IV. I hate how those mods make the cars so super shiny. It looks completely ridiculous and takes away from the otherwise realistic gritty NYC feel.

Forget the cars, check out the polish on that fire hydrant!

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

I agree about the degree of the shine...there seems to be no setting in any of the mods that I have tried, to get it just right.

The best way to play it is probrobly, The better City textures pack, but no mod and just apply AA with an FXAA fix.
