GTA IV Problem: Choppy Graphics

I did many things to try to solve this issue, but this is what is wrong:

2

The choppy words and graphics were not like this always. I had my computer on for 2 whole days straight with a 30 minute break I just did recently. I still get this problem; what must I do to fix this. Thank you =).

Haha, reloading saves FTW!

or just kill yourself so you don't lose your weapons

that's what I do

Ya it's basically almost impossible to get busted in this game. You can run away when they catch you on foot, and you can drive away a lot easier than in previous games.

What the hell are you talking about? In previous games you could get rid of 5 stars by driving into a pay n spray. In this game the pay n spray never works and anything past 3 stars is basically impossible to escape.

Anyway, make sure you patch the game and install the latest beta Nvidia drivers. Beta drivers work just fine, but they can be updated more often because they don't go through all that testing and what not. Also, I remember games like BF1942 having fucked up text when anisotropic filtering was enabled. Turn AA and AF off (in nvidia control panel) to make sure those aren't causing this.

Looks like some people are having problems with a 8800 GTS card:

Didn't read through that, but I am running a 512MB 8800 GTS (Vista x64, 4GB, Q6600) and not having any problems.

check the aspect ratio setting to make sure it matches the aspect ratio of your resolution

Yes, check your resolution. The screencaps in your OP are 840x600, definitely not a proper 4:3 ratio.

This didn't work.

Anti-aliasing was manually turned off in the Nvidia Control Panel, still didn't work.

I mean in SA and VC if the cop got anywhere near your car door, you were instantly arrested. But in GTA4, you can drive away even if his hand is on the handle.

The way around that is to drive in reverse with the wheel turned away from the cop. If the cop is on the left side of the car, you drive in reverse with the wheels turned to the right. You'll drive over the cop 😉

You can easily get away with 3 or 4 stars. Good driver FTW. 😛
