GTA 4 savegame help

lost my saves. Its easy to find other peoples savegames for it, I just want to know is it actually possible to use them?

i really dont want to re-play through the 60 hours i spent on it.
It would be nice if GFWL actually saved them on thier server for me, but always starts me back to the beginning. I accidentally deleted my save backup when i was trying to get it working in Windows 7, now i'm screwed i think less i can get someone else's saves working.

Savegames are bind to xLive account. You must copy both information.

So... copy also this folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\xLive\

Yup, you have to copy both as coloumb suggested in the post above.

you can play any savegame you want using xlive wrapper and also by modifying the savegame file itself.

wrapper didnt work, still started me over at beginning. GFWL shouldve included some kind of backup and restore feature if their gonna do it this way.
what a waste of a good game, now i wont ever want to play it or finish it.

even if the wrapper wont work for you, you can do small minor mod to your savegame file to fix it via this tutorial here
