GT740? Is it Maxwell like GTX750/750ti?

Wondering what this new card is that showed up at Newegg. Only 384 shaders, which, given the lack of double-clocked shaders from Fermi, is really low. Still, they want $99 for it. I figure that the card is pretty bad, because EVGA is offering a 1GB GDDR5 version, for the same price as a 4GB DDR3 version.

It's a standard GK107 chip. I have it in my laptop, and it is alright for most games and can easily play bluray and flash in 2d mode (135 MHz core/419 MHz memory)

I have it overclocked at 1065 MHz core and 2995 MHz memory and it runs every game at 1080p with 30fps minimum.

It's very power efficient chip, but it definitely isn't worth anything over $100.
Maxwell is far more efficient, and is much faster. The 384 cuda cores do scale really well with clock speed, so if someone buys it, overclock!

I thought nVidia said they were going to get rid of the GT naming scheme because of the confusion it causes?

One thing I've found recently is the oem only gk208 based gt635. They can be had on ebay for $30 shipped. They make great HTPC cards.
