The app thingy that records your custom routes, not the regular course maker; has anyone used this?

It was finally released.. two years after gt6 release. :hmm🙁:thumbsup🙂. This gives me a reason to buy gt6.
 
I'm pretty sure the only way to create a custom track is with the app. It is only for tablets but there are workarounds to get it to work with phones.

The last I checked people were reporting lag when driving on these custom tracks. You might want to look around this forum for the latest. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/board/gt6-course-maker.389/

Also, why you can't create a track with only your ps3 is completely nuts. Not many people are happy about needing other hardware to play their ps3 game after waiting almost 2 years for the track creator to be released.
