I changed from normal tv to HDTV, it was like night and day.

The graphics duke!

It went from blurry to crispy clearness and although the textures had compression artifacts, it still looked pretty freakin good. I was amazed. I saw rocks above a tunnel that I never knew existed beforet the 1080i. On another note 480p is pretty much useless.

I heard the menus in GT4 are 480i only. That's retarded design by Sony. That means if I wanted to play this game on my X1 projector via vga component, I have to switch cables to Svideo to display 480i menus and then switch the cables again to components during actual races where 480p and 1080i is available. If not I won't be able to see the menus while using component since X1 only sees 480p or higher in vga component mode. Even TVs, LCDs, Plasma, and projectors that can support all resolution via one connection has to keep changing resolutions many times during one's GT4 gaming session.

How hard would it have been for Sony to add 480p and 1080i menus in GT4? Compared to Microsoft Xbox where virtually all games support 480p and many games support 720p and 1080i, Sony still has long ways to go. I mean even Nintendo supports 480p on most Gamecube games and some 720p. Progressive support on PS2 is very short list and spotty at best.

Yes, the menu's are 480 i or p, not sure, but HDTV supports both, at least it does with my tv. That DOES suck.

Yeah, what the hell happened to 720p anyway, it's part of the HDTV.

Damn, I haven't seen Halo on HDTV, it would've been really amazing.

I paid 30 bucks for the fckers yesterday. First I saw this other brand for 60 bucks and I was hesitant, but looking some more, I found the last official PS2 component cables.

I'll be the first to say that 1080i is nowhere near to looking "stunning" and "cripsy clearness" as you put it. Infact, I wonder why 1080i was included in the first place. Actually, let me say that you did get "crispy clearness" right, but it sure is clear...............clear how many jaggies this game has. Now, don't take that as a complaint, because I'm well aware of the drawbacks to 5 year old hardware. Poly Digital has done a tremendous job with what they've had to work with, and it shows. But on my 52" widescreen HDTV in 1080i, it's a horrible mess of pixelation, and 1080i only stands to sharpen these up. And when the jaggies and horrible distance texturing is sharpened, it only means you can't tell what's ahead of you more than 20 feet out.

IMO, 480p looked 10x better than 1080i. And glance around the net and you'll see the same thing repeated by a lot of others.

Just my .2 cents.
