"If this is in any way a suitable name or not we will leave to you to decide. Performance is said to be out of the ordinary, but hopefully GT300 consumes a bit less power than the inspiration."

Looks as though AMD, and Kyle might be very wrong.

They also link to Fudzilla blog.

All right Keys, spill the beans on those specs already!

So what became of Rollo? Is he still a focus group member? Just curious, he was an interesting fellow despite, well you know.

I don't know.

Wow, it's kind of eerie. It's either FX5800 days, or 8800GTX days... I can't decide yet.

Geez let's hope 8800GTX days if anything. You know that song that drunk fat chicks dance to? May be fitting soon.. "you dropped a bomb on me, baby, you dropped a bomb on me." :p

First card before the end of the year, certainly doesn't make kyle wrong. Seems they are confirming the soft launch by christmas and cards available by feb 2010 rumour.

Tough times for nvidia.

Well, I suppose it could go either way. As with anything. ;)

Sorry guys. Can't do it. I'd love to.

Rollo is still in the group. We talk frequently. It's amazing how he still comes up in many a discussion after all this time. :)

Hmmm.. Performance is "out of the ordinary". I wonder what that could mean? Could it mean that the performance is waaaay under what we expected? Meaning less than ordinary expectations? Or the opposite? ::::::::::BITES TONGUE:::::::::::: in anticipation.

LOL. So what, in those sentences, "confirmed" things for you?

Why? They still have the fastest video card out there.

The 5870 is a powerful card. So you really can't take that away from it. And it is true about the fastest "single" card. But you might run into one or two blokes who just won't stand for that being a dual GPU solution. The fact alone that the 5870 is going just about toe to toe with a GTX295 is impressive. Credit where it is due.

P.S. Sorry guys for the 4 posts in a row. Just catching up. Was playing the piano for a bit. Just relieving the daily stresses.

looks like they just read fuad's article and made up a nice turn of phrase "performance out of the ordinary". I saw a fortune teller at a fair once who talked like that: "you will have an important milestone in your life some time next year".

It's nice to finally see SOMETHING about gt 300, however.

Yeah, I guess they could've done that. Jeez, most of the stuff on the web is stolen, reworded, embellished these days.

And yes, it is good to hear things about Fermi.

I imagine if they are starting mass prouction this week. It is 8-10 weeks until any cards are shipping to retailers.

so we get a soft launch on dec 15 with good availability in jan? That's a big win for nvidia imho when you consider the defeaning silence they used to greet 5xxx.

definitely a good phrase. if it beats 5870 then it's "out of the ordinary" because it's the faster single gpu card out there. if it is slower than 5870 it's out of the ordinary because nvidia typically has the fastest single gpu. I'm telling you, I could get paid to do this...

Out of the ordinary can only be good news because it is an Nvidia source. It says they were told it was "out of the ordinary". It references out of the ordinary results for a new GPU. You "ordinarily" only can expect up to 2X-- and "ordinarily" much less than that (about 50%)-- increase in the new gen architecture so it will be greater than that. Why else would they name it Fermi? Maybe because they are going to "drop the bomb" on AMD? lol

But in all seriousness I expect it to beat a 295 by up to 20%.

fermi had nothing to do with the design of the trinity device. he just started and ended the first artificial reaction in chicago.

if the flagship codenames ended up being a series of important physicists' last names, that would be interesting by-play. i mean, on the one hand you have AMD's conifer trees, and from nvidia you have tesla, fermi, oppenheimer, teller, ulam, sakharov. hopefully they will save names like newton and descartes for the IGPs.

1) OMGzorz 1000FPS in CRysis 3xxx x 2xxx Ultra High settings
or
2) OMG Suckzors 1 FPS in Freecell

I suspect the truth lies somewhere in between.

YAWN.

Another BS link, another empty topic with nothing but BS rumors.

Kinda embarrassing line of work, isn't it, NV Focus Group member?

Wake me up when we have something concrete.

It's really quite sad to see these NV focus group members on here. I think they are polluting this site and all of them should be banned like Rollo. This place has be become like P&N with video cards.
