Wow, so the M3 is a bargain (relatively speaking), the GT3 is the fastest of the bunch, and the Audi is just plain funky. If Audi was shooting for the 911, I think they forgot about the Turbo / GT2 / GT3 models. Or perhaps there's a monster R8 coming.

It was mentioned in the article that the RS8 is in the works and should be unveiled next year.

Love the Michelin ad stuck right in the middle of the sentence lauding Michelin tires.

Cool cars, though.

The Pilot Sport PS2 really are incredible tires... It's not advertising.

I have a friend that runs a 996GT3 in road races and fits PS2s to his car. Best tire choice.

Man, do you think it'll match the 911 Turbo Auto? (3.3/3.4 0-60)

Maybe... It will weigh less and have a quicker shifting transmission, but it will probably have more rear power bias than the 911 Turbo, which will hurt its standing start acceleration times.

The real question is if the "RS8" will have the turbocharged V10 from the RS6, or the normally aspirated one. If it gets the twin turbo FSI one... :D

I look forward to it :) I'm sort of doubtful, given the lack of performance from the current R8 (vs. the 911 Turbo, with similar power available). Although I love the wide low stance, and I bet it handles wonderfully. The 911s are famous for being 'expert-only' track cars. You definitely don't want to n00b yourself in one of those :D

Totally agree there. I have PS2's on my BMW, best tires I've ever had. Great traction even when wet.

Stop hating.

Bridgestone RE-01R and RE-050A PP offer similar/better performance according to TR for much less...

Yep. The PS2 was the best when it was released, but technology marches on. There are better performing choices out there now. If you're willing to go DOT-R, there are even more choices, like Michelin's own Pilot Sport Cup.

But they wouldn't be as practical, no?

The Bridgestone DOT choices easily are.

DOT-R choices would be great summer choices, though they have shorter lifespans. Of course with rain, snow, ice, dirt, etc, the PS2 would be clearly superior.

I didn't realize it when I posted my first post, but the ads in that link are loaded randomly. When I first loaded it, there was literally a full-page Michelin advertisement in the middle of the sentence. Upon looking again, there was a different ad.
