GT240 for folding?

Just wondering if swapping my 9600GSOs (four of them) out for some GT240s, would save me some power/heat, without lowering my PPD. They had 96 SPs, just like the older 9600GSOs. They do only have a 128-bit memory bus, instead of 192-bit, but they have more RAM, 512MB rather than 384MB.

Microcenter has them for $30 AR in-store apparently.

Anyone know how they overclock? My 9600GSOs are running at 1620 shader clock.

My understanding is that GT240s can have overclocking problems if they don't have a separate power connector. I don't see one on this one, but I haven't looked closely.

I don't know about F@H specifically, but it looks to me like one GTX460 could at least come close to matching four of these, for the power of two. And I have heard in the Video Cards forum that a GTX 450 and 455 are coming soon.

For the power of two? Are you sure about that? I power all four 9600GSOs off of an Antec EarthWatts 650W PSU. Are you saying that I could run two GTX460s off of the same PSU?

I do know that the GTX 460 is rated at 150W each, the GT240 at 75W each, and the 9600GSO at 105W each.

What I'm not sure about is how much work each would do. I was actually thinking more of PrimeGrid. I'm seeing posts in the Video Cards forum saying the GTX 460 isn't all that great, compared to some other high-end cards, in gaming.

Review of GT240 at FAH addict: link

100% of power comes from pcie slot so 2 or more w/ overclocking could be an issue.

Note on GTX460: requires two 6 pin power connectors.
