It is at least 25% faster. Notebookcheck says it's 5% better than the 5770 which is about 20% over the 4850.

Seems a kind of strange combination to pair a discrete gpu with a low voltage processor. If you are not gaming, I don't think you really need a discrete card, and if you are planning on gaming, you might want a full voltage mobile i7.

the CPU is slower than your 2500k, it's a dual core i7 (more like a desktop i3)
it looks like the 750M is another GK107 card, it's the same GPU as the GT 640 DDR3 and GTX 650 (non TI), and it looks like it can use both DDR3 and GDDR5, I would expect the DDR3 version to be slower than the 4850 in older games, the GDDR5 version is probably more like a 4870-4890 in older games, and much better for newer games.

It will be a bit faster and has more GPU ram than you desktop. Make sure you compare that dell with, what i believe, is the a superior Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p for less $$$. Coupon code "DOORBUSTER" cuts it to $879

^ good point.

And actually, the OP should also consider the much, much cheaper Lenovo Y410p.

In my opinion, the i7-4500U is a bad match for the 750m. It will likely bottleneck that GPU in modern games.

And be careful - in the slim Dell form factor, it's almost certain the the GT 750m is using the performance-crippling DDR3. In GDDR5 form, which Lenovo uses, the card is at least the equal of a 4850, but with DDR3, it will be slower.

Thanks a lot guys.

The dell appears to be the GDDR5 version.

I will look into the other notebooks that you have suggested.

In my laptop my 650m is bottlenecked in a few games by my i7-3720qm. Don't be surprised to see your CPU being the weak point in some games, but the 750m is a great mid-range GPU.

The only games I can think of that can really bottleneck is gw2.

You effectively have a 3470 + desktop 650/7750. I can't see that ever being a problem.
