Gsync Monitor Issue

I bought a refurbished Acer XB280HK ($350!) to supplement my delayed GTX 1070. The monitor came today and is replacing an existing 4k freesync panel from Samsung.

I haven't been able to find many users running a 4k Gsync panel (old DP 1.2) on an AMD card. I will be stuck on the R9 290 for another week it seems.
Anyways, I am having an awful intermittent signal loss with Displayport. The panel will go lose signal sporadically. If I make the Acer panel my primary display, the display will lose signal every 1-3 seconds for about 3-5 seconds until I add another display via HDMI. If I make the HDMI panel (tried Freesync 4k and a 1080p TV) as primary and allow the 4k gsync as secondary, the flickering is reduced 95%. It now loses connection once every half a minute or so.

So if I make the 4k Acer the secondary display, it works for the most part, letting me play games @ 4k with only a 3 second disconnect every 30-60 seconds. If I make the Acer my primary display, it constantly loses connection.

In Monitor settings, ULMB is greyed out which means GSYNC is enabled at least on the monitor's end. I cannot disable GSYNC unless I have an Nvidia GPU, correct?

I am assuming this monitor will not work with AMD and Intel GPU's? I bought it for the GTX 1070, and I am hopeful that the monitor has nothing wrong with it. This monitor has NO warranty. If I want to get my money back, I need to return it within 7 days. Is there some way I can verify that there is nothing wrong with it? Can anyone with a GSYNC monitor verify that it will not work properly with an AMD GPU? This flickering/disconnecting issue has me concerned. I won't be getting the GTX 1070 until later next week at the earliest due to shipping problems.

edit: I tried a custom 59Hz resolution to no avail. I will try to get to a Computer Store (2+ hour drive) with a mini DP -> DP for my Macbook Pro, as it has a GT 650M. I live in a very rural area where shipping is always slow and no electronics store is in the county.

I would not assume this. I would assume that if I dont return this monitor before the 30 days are up I'm going to be screwed.

I found an adapter for my Macbook Pro. The Nvidia Geforce GTX 650 only supports 4k at 24hz.

The Acer recognized the Nvidia card and worked right away. I was able to watch a tv show without any problems. No more random disconnects...

Earlier I was also able to play ARMA 2 @ 4k60 on my R9 290 with rapid signal loss. I have the feeling the monitor may be working fine and that it is simply not compatible with anything non-Nvidia.

I did verify I have a 15 day return window, which fits in with my GTX 1070 arrival. If it doesn't work with the 1070, it goes. Rather worrying that it doesn't work on my Intel HD graphics. I cannot get to stop intermittently losing signal. Cheap 4k Gsync has its price D:

I expect my freesync 4k panel to work fine sans Freesync on my GTX 1070 though... It works with my Intel HD graphics!

Got my GTX 1070 today! Fedex couldn't find my house number last week, so it took extra long for it to come.

I did some snooping around, and I found this helpful thread: https://www.sapphireforum.com/showthread.php?33565-295-x2-and-Acer-XB280HK-4K-G-Sync-Monitor

The R9 290 simply won't work on this panel. Funnily enough, using DDU to remove the drivers let me run 4k60 without any problems on the R9 290. Games will not work though.

The Acer monitor works great on the GTX 1070.
