I have a Tmobile phone which was given to me, I don't want Tmobile service, or at least not a contract thing. I was looking at Tmobile & AT&T for pre-paid, not sure which is better. I kind of would like something that gives me night and weekend minutes and either includes text messaging or is something you can add a group of messages for a fixed price (not a dime a message)

Anyone here have a suggestion? My credit is shot so I'm not really trying to have them run it only to tell me I'd have to leave a big deposit in order to get service, and I kind of really don't want to tied into a 2 year contract anywho.

I'm guessing AT&T would be the best bet, but I don't follow GSM or prepaid much so there might be a better solution out there for me.

I've used prepaid for a long time. $100 for like 1100 minutes that last for a year.

Each time you fill up the year is extended to one year from the new date of minutes. It's worked well.

Bonus is that I get to use it overseas pretty easily with no issues, although mainly for texts as it's like $3/min with voice.

Edit: tmobile pre-paid

Whenever I'm back in the States I use TMobile prepay. $100 for 1000 minutes, they last for a year and you get unlimited nights and weekends. And if you pay $100 upfront you get 15% off everytime you top up. Seems better then ATT, but it works me since I go for like 9 months at a time without using it and it's still active when I put my sim back in.

wait onlyCOpunk, you're saying the with $100/1000 min plan you get unlimited nights and weekends? The T-Mobile site doesn't mention this at all, very odd. If that's the case that's definitely the best sounding deal out there. Hummm wonder why they wouldn't mention N&W seems like a huge selling point.

you talking about the Tmobile unlimited N&W thing? I don't think it's right either, if that was the case Tmobile would advertise it like there's no tomorrow. Seems like a lot of people would buy a $20 phone, pay $100 and only use it at night and get a year of unlimited night and weekend calling. That is much too good of a deal.

right now it looks like AT&T has the best overall plans, not the cheapest but I can add unlimited text, where tmobile doesn't seem to offer this unless u have a Sidekick.

Ok, I think I'm going with AT&T, not the best coverage where I live but from people I talk to it's better than TMobile by a good amount. Question regarding a phone, I'm looking at the selection of GoPhones, the Sony Ericsson W580i looks nice but they only offer the white model as a Gophone (WTF??) I don't know if I want a slider phone. The 800i looks pretty good, but I can't find a side by side compairson of the two models. Has anyone used both? or has one and care to comment on it? if I end up going with the 580 I think I might ebay it since AT&T doesn't offer the gray or black model as a Gophone.

I picked up one for AT&T last week for my road trip.

It works. Don't plan on using it much. The $1 think on days you use the phone kindof sucks though.

if you don't plan on using it much just go with the .25 a minute plan, no daily fee if you don't use it. a buck a day sucks if you only use the phone a little bit. And with the $1 a day you still pay per minute even if it's only a dime.

just read on the phone and if it's locked it doesn't support your music as ring tones, that sucks! I think I'll still go with it though.
