Another day. Another Galaxy Nexus price drop. I'm curious where this will finally settle. I'm thinking $300 like the Japanese DoCoMo Nexus. Any case, new ($440) Galaxy Nexus is now way cheaper than ($530) Galaxy SII. It might be time for Galaxy SII owners to think about selling their phone and swapping it with the Galaxy Nexus.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?SID=dKYOLH2fEeGl4yas14OV6Q0&AID=10440897&PID=1225267&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-cables-_-na-_-na&ItemList=Combo.866900

If you go through Bigcrumbs, you get 4.2% off at Newegg bringing the final price down to $421.

Do I keep waiting on a craigslist deal on a t-mo phone or spend the big bucks on this...

Decisions...

Unfortunately, even though you're spending over $400 on this nexus, the international versions are apparently a pain to get service for :\

awesome deal, but lots of people saying they are waiting for a $300-ish price which seems unrealistic since even now the older nexus S is $300.

I see the nexus S on craigslist all the time for 200-220

Why'd you have to post this? I had resigned myself to waiting for the S3 and buying it off contract, fully expecting to pay $700-800 for it. Now I don't know what to do.

Honestly even if the S3 was announced tomorrow you'd most likely will have to wait another good 5 months for it to come to our shores. So I'd jump on this deal now, get as much utilitiy as possible out of this phone, and sell it down the road for a slight loss when the S3 does arrive. Consider it cost of renting the device for half the year. I know I can stomach $60-$80 rental fee.

Wow, nice one. I might have to get this.
I have T-mobile and by far this is the best phone for T-Mobile with its pentaband.

I intend to pick one up off-contract from whichever country is selling them. So shouldn't be that long. Still though...

This is the best smartphone for any carrier on any platform IMO. I may be biased since I own this phone but there's not a phone on the market today I would trade for this phone. Not the new HTC One X, not the iPhone 4S. This is the perfect phone for $45 Straight Talk AT&T and $30 T-Mobile 5gb prepaid. And free wifi tethering out of the box on any gsm US carrier since it has foreign IMEI.

The original international SGSii does not work with Tmobile so I think the SGSiii will follow that pattern.

I think we got lucky that the Galaxy Nexus was pentaband and works with Tmo. Maybe that was a Google hq requirement.

Are they? I just popped in my T-Mobile SIM to my Galaxy Nexus and it worked perfectly. Didn't have to change any settings or anything. Granted I was under a contract with T-Mo already, maybe that makes a difference?

Appears to no longer be available.

Edit: Just noticed this model doesn't have a mSD slot. Glad I waited too long to jump on this one now.

I love the Galaxy Nexus but I'd probably trade it for a Droid Razr Maxx if someone offered and it was in perfect condition. I'd also take a One X over it no brainer imo.

tmosgs2 is bigger than the regular sgs2, but in my case I like 4.3". I won't go for a Nexus. It's just too big. Don't believe me?

There you go. The SGS2 still has an amazing community of support. I'll admit the Nexus has the best ROMing as far as that goes. Even my Nexus S out ROMs the SGS2, even though I bet the SGS2 is far more popular as a phone and the threads get a LOT of activity.

Whelp, I'm going to buy an HTC sensation for $260 off craigslist instead. It's only 3 weeks old (if the dude isn't lying). Given that these international Galaxy nexuses get no warranty support at all, I figure less money on craigslist means less risk than the nexus :D.

you're nutty. what's better about the sgs2?

(Note I am going to reference the standard Exynos SGS2, not the nutty Qualcomm models)

-Better GPU (HUGE deal with a 720p screen and an ICS that really stresses the GPU)

-Non-pentile display (For people like me who can easily see the pentile effect)

-The ability to use Micro SD cards

-Real Gorilla Glass

-Much better camera

That's pretty much my reason for skipping Gnex completely. Maybe I'll wait until Android 6.0 to see what they have in store for the next Nexus phone. Hopefully it's not a huge disappointment like Galaxy Nexus (vs SGS2).

Those are all low hanging fruit for sure, but i don't think even the HTC one X has all of that, and none of the other next gen flagship phones have been announced yet.
Even if anything was announced tomorrow, it would be months before they had US carrier availability. And even then it would be full retail price.

Better GPU is a non issue. Galaxy Nexus runs every 3D game on Google Play perfectly including stuff like GTA 3.

I seriously can not believe you're using the tired pentile argument. Pentile or not you can't see pixels on the Galaxy Nexus; it's super crisp. You would never know it's pentile without being told it is. The SGS2 on the other hand has a terribly grainy pixelated image. The Galaxy Nexus screen completely blows away the SGS2 screen, they are like a generation apart.

MicroSD cards I'll grant

Real Gorilla Glass? The GN has reinforced glass too, it's just not made by Corning. It's Pepsi vs Coke. Corning isn't the only game in town. Implying that Gorilla Glass is the only good kind of glass is about the same as implying that Apple makes the only good phones. It means their marketing department is working.

The SGS2 camera takes somewhat better photos but nothing really noteworthy. The Galaxy Nexus' camera is intended for taking good photos and being able to take them extremely fast, way faster than the SGS2.
