hello every one, I am planning on setting up a small gsm base station on my fathers Fishing boat, I have looked at the USRP and USRP2 and they seem to be very expensive 1500-2000 USD total , does any one know if there is any other cheap base stations that are available. Right now i have given him a setup using SIP over WIFI with an asterix back end, He does not switch on the network till he is in international waters so there are no issues with spectrum, He does not like the current setup because the battery lasts for about four hour because of the wifi use, I would like to migrate it to a GSM based network for two reasons,
one, he can use cheaper phones with his crew,
two, better battery life
