gs vs gt

It depends on what GPU you're speaking of. Usually GS models are a little inferior to the GT ones in terms of speed.
 
In NVidia models, the GS model is a card with the same core as the GT, just slightly underclocked and/or pipeline-crippled.
 
if you're talking about the 6800 series... 6800xt<6800<6800gs<6800gt<6800ultra
if you're talking about the 7600 series... 7600gs<7600gt (the 7600gs is passive)
if you're talking about the 7800 series... 7800gs<7800gt<7800gtx (the 7800gs is agp)
overall the gs is the value model in each series while the gt is a higher clocked performance model.
