The 740i competes more with the LS 430 than the GS 400. I would chose the 740 over either lexus though.

You are talking about a $20k difference in price range there. There really is no competition. If you have the money to sink into a 7 series BMW, that's the way to go. There will be a lot more interior space in the 7 series compared to the GS 430. The GS 430 is more in competition with the 5 series BMW (I test drove the GS 300 which is the same as the GS 430 just with the V6 instead of the V8 as well as a 535i BMW. I bought an Audi A6).

Thanks for being clear in your original post, jackass...

IMHO, the 1999 GS400's backside is ugly when compared to the current GS-series. Check out the Mercedes-Benz E320 though.

7 series and GS are more for old people, and judging by your immature language, they wouldn't fit you.
Maybe you should go with a brand new 3 series or a G35 instead?

the E class is for old people

the GS is late 20s - 40s
the 7 series is pretty much for older people but can fix it up a little to make it fit your personality

infinities suck....and the 3 series is too small for me...i said i have a 5 series....

Well, since mommy and daddy are probably paying for it, why don't you ask them?

Word. It's cool being really young and able to say you own a BMW or Lexus... but the novelty wears off quickly.

IMHO of course.

Not to mention the monthly insurance premium on that thing will probably be higher than monthly PAYMENT on my Passat.

why does it matter when all you're probably gonna do is slap on some 20's and bump your stock system while driving around Westwood every weekend trying to show off to people who obviously don't care? maybe you should rephrase your question to ask "what would make me look less like a fool, trying to show off in a GS400, or trying to show off in a 740i?" either way, everybody's gonna think that it's your mommy's or daddy's, just like every other kid that drives around Westwood in a $50k+ car. treat others with respect and you'll get respectable answers. otherwise, all you'll get are responses like this. the first few posts actually dealt with your question... then after your little "comment", it started turning into a flame war... although powermac didn't help things by calling you a "jackass", he suggested that you look into a Benz E class, to which you responded "the E class is nasty". Have a little more tact. If people try helping you out, the least you can do is be polite about it.

now, what's wrong with your 5 series? not turning enough heads when you pass by?

Probably needs something a little bit bigger to carry his ego.
