Grumble grublme... Piece of crap 2100+ Tbred B. Grumble grumble...

Ordered a pair of 2100+s from NewEgg for my dually. Both chips are same week (0307), one overclocks great to the tune of 2266MHz stable. The other, however sucks. Posts fine at default voltage and default speed. Up voltage to 1.8, won't post at anything greater than default speed. Tried 15*120 (1800MHz up from 1733MHz). No go. Posts fine at it's default clock (15 * 116).

Unless anyone has any ideas, I think I'm royally screwed. 🙁

...or did you lower freq onpurpose??

(if so, whY?)

maybe try default voltage?

Well, I raised the mult trying to go for 2ghz. Proc is a no go that high though, so I had to resort to lower mults to get it to post.

Really, really test it at default and see if you have it error then send it back and get another one....obviously a bad ocer chip but may also be a bad chip altogether as it as zero headroom...

Don't manually set the multiplier any higher than 12.5x. "Default" is as high as you should set it, which is 13x... but if you manually have it set at 13x, it seems to not like it. It might work on some 2100's, but I know on mine, I can't set it at 13x and above, or else it will not post. 12.5x is the highest it will post with if I have the multiplier manually set. I don't need anything more than 12x though, because my FSB is set at 200MHz. Right now I'm at 11.5x200. So give that a shot (set the multi to default or 12.5x or lower) and tell me how it goes.

Well, my board is an A7M266-D, which is based on the 760MPX chipset which is not exactly known for running high FSBs.

The chip is 100% stable at stock speeds and stock voltages, so I'm not going to send it back. I'll just suck it up and live with it.

So far stable... At 13x138MHz (1794.43MHz). At 1.8V. If it wern't for the increase in memory bandwidth, I wouldn't even mess with it.

Strange, thats the first time I've heard of a tbred b not being able to hit at least 2ghz.
