I have an RAID0 array set as follow:

/dev/ataraid/disc0/part1--------ext2-------/boot

/dev/ataraid/disc0/part2--------swap

/dev/ataraid/disc0/part3--------reiserfs-------/

I can get grub to load the kernel, but I end up getting this error:

VFS: Cannont open root device "ataraid/disc0/part3" or 00:00
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 00:00

My grub.conf looks like this:

default 0
timeout 30

title=Gentoo
root (hd0,0)
kernel (hd0,0)/boot/bzImage root=/dev/ataraid/disc0/part3

These are the commands I passed to GRUB to set it up:

grub>root (hd0,0)
grub>setup (hd0)

Every think looked like it went in smooth, bu then the kernel can't load the root partition.
I know the Gentoo documentation say I need to add "--stage2=/boot/grub/stage2" to the setup commant, but it wont let me it, it gives me the msg:

Error 11: Unreconized device string

What is keeping me from booting? I did my comtrolled not get compiled into my kernel correctly? Or am I doing something wrong with GRUB? Help me please!!

Well it ended up that I did not have every thing I needed for my card configured into the kernel, but it works now.
