just come back from an awesome break dancing night to find my SD400 now has 3 dead pixel groups on it

theres 3 distinct red dots in the same place on every photo and theres over 200 photos so i aint photoshoppin them all.

im gonna have to give canon a call because this is just unacceptable

What do you mean by pixel groups?

How long was the exposure time?

It's only in three spots?

If you can post a sample image I can give you a better idea of what is going on.

im jus burnin them to dvd, will post one up shortly
by groups i mean its not just one pixel, when you zoom in it looks like a cluster of pixels that are dead, well stuck .... on red.

actually seems most of them have only 2 obvious spots, im sure i could see a third but its not hittin me in the face

Okay...I'm betting that it's one pixel in each spot that is stuck on red or hypersensitive or something.

What makes this look like there is more than one is that it "bleeds" over onto ajdacent pixels due to its intensity.

I doubt they will fix it for that...it will happen eventually and it's not unusual for a camera to have one or two.

They will be more prevalent on darker shots or where the exposure is longer or the ISO is turned up.

If you have photoshop, you should be able to batch process all images since they will always be in the same spot. It takes a bit of work to set it up but once that's done you can just run it as a first thing on all images, then do any individual edits after that.

i see thats exactly my case, dark night club, didnt wanna use the flash because A) its too small to light everything properly B) usually takes the focus off the subject. so i had ISO up to 400, exposure up a lil and used a vivid color setting so guess that was ripe settings for them to be obvious

cant find that 3rd spot now, i seen it once or twice on a few early shots, but its not there or i just cant see it on the rest.

id never noticed these others till tonight, and i always knew it had 1 already

ahh think i found the 3rd one, it spends most of its time on some dudes red jumper, or on a really bright portion of the floor. so it gets hidden

Yeah not much can be done about it. If you really want to locate them, take a shot with the lens cap on for like 10 seconds.

If its always the same pixels just create a photoshop action to spot heal them out. It may take some CPU time but it'll do the job with minimal work.
