Grrr... Stupid Intel...

Now.. IS it just me who finds this stupid or?

Intel have made Atom CPU's with VT-X... and they have made Atom CPU's with Dual Core... why on EARTH have they not made a Dual Core CPU yet that has VT-X... noooo.. only single cores... that makes sense...

grrrrr

... have anyone stumpled across a roadmap that revealed a dual-core atom with vt-x? With one of the ION chip sets being able to support 8gb ram, this suddenly turns into a very nice opportunity for small and cheap virtualisation servers...

I can certainly understand wanting to use an Atom-based PC for personal VM's such as XP mode, but a full-blown server hypervisor? D:

A dual-core Core 2- or Athlon II-based virtual server would be substantially faster and wouldn't cost that much more.

You're right.. the initial price would be more expensive for an Atom.. but in the long run.. it would be a money saver due to the power consumption.

But yes.. I actually would use it for server virtualization. It would only be running low-cpu related servers like websites and the like.. So for a potentially atom-based server, I think that would be quite cool...
