i guess i forgot to apply the patch for the major windows exploit a while back to the htpc

i haven't touched it in a while and i just sat down to watch a movie and it had a hundred and something ie windows open and some kind of anti spyware bullshit freaking out and saying i was infected...i'm trying to clean up the mess now

toolbars left and right, all the resources used up, akk

Webroot spysweeper worked for me. It was so bad that I had to rebuild the tcp/ip stack with a winsock tool.

i guess i'll have a go at it with spysweeper next

i wonder how many virii i'm gonna find?

and i wonder why my server hasn't freaked out on it when it does it's weekly network virus check...
 
Pull out hard drive - scan and remove crap on a different computer.

That's really the easiest/quickest way...then do manual registry cleanup later.

use microsoft's antispyware.

get cwshredder (newest version)

get Hijackthis and go to http://hijackthis.de/index.php

install spywareblaster and IEspyad

and pray everything works out ok.
