grrr... just got my braces off and now my teeth hurt :(

I got my braces off and my dentist told me to wear the retainer 24/7. I've been wearing it all the time, but my teeth are now hurting (not much, but its still annoying).

Is this normal? Are my teeth just slightly adjusting right now?

Just remember to wear that retainer, the teeth will freak out and move back to the original places if you dont.

Any yes, its a most interseting experience having your braces removed... teeth are nice and smoooth.

I only have to wear my retainers at night. I felt really weird after my braces were taken off. My teeth were yellow!

I know someone who has had braces for close to 7 years now and looks like no end in sight!!! I bet the spots under the braces will be deathly white in comparison to the rest of his teeth (plus cuz he smokes LOL!)

I had my braces for 9 months and my teeth were in terrible condition. All I have to do now is wear a container at night. Pretty good orthodontist my dad chose (he is a dentist)

When you had the braces on, your teeth were under constant pressure, but since it was constant, you didn't notice. However, when you got them tightened, the pressure changed and you noticed it and it hurt for a while until you got used to it again. When you got them taken off, it was one last big change in pressure and it will hurt for a while just like when you got them tightened. In short, don't worry. The pain will subside.

This is so incredibly interesting to me… there were braces in 1999?? How much do you think they’ve changed since then? I just had my braces taken off 23 years later!!
