I just got the Extreme Edition Terminator 2 DVD. T2 is one of my favorite movies and this particular edition is very nice.
One of the selling points of the DVD is a High Definition, widescreen version of the movie that is included in the second disk. It has a 1928x1080 native resolution, so it should look absolutely awesome. It should provide a taste of how HD-DVDs should look when they become mainstream in a couple of years.
However: THE STUPID DVD HAS A STUPID REGIONAL COPY PROTECTION THAT ONLY ALLOWS IT TO BE PLAYED IN THE US!!!!!!!!!! And since I live in Mexico, I'm a promptly screwed! You have to connect to the net to watch it and download a security certificate everytime the disk is loaded...
My DVD is 100% legit. I payed the equivalent of $45 US for it. There's no version for my region (or any other region whatsoever, for that matter!!).
This is stupid...this is the kind of stuff that just punishes legit costumers. Pirates can bypass this kind of stuff so easily, while making life impossible for those (like me) who shelled the money for the product but can't watch it due to stupid, arbirtary exclusion like this.
*sigh* No choice but to find a proxy server and hope that works...
